Nice Day Trip

Yesterday my husband and I drove to San Francisco, it’s only a two hour drive from the house so it makes for a nice day trip.

We didn’t see a lot but San Francisco is such a nice place to visit, I’m always happy to get the chance to go there.

One of the first stops was at Coit Tower. I’ve only seen it from the distance, this was my first time to get up close to Coit Tower. Built to fulfill the bequest of Lillie Hitchcock Coit, who left funds to be used to beautify the city she loved, Coit Tower is an icon on the San Francisco skyline, a simple tower crowning Telegraph Hill overlooking the San Francisco waterfront.

I must say the walk up to it was a bit steep but that’s pretty normal for San Francisco.

I only got a few pictures of the tower, once you’re up close to it, it’s hard to get the whole structure in view of the camera lens.

From Coit Tower we had a nice view of the wharf area and saw a yacht moored in the harbor. I don’t remember who owns it but I do remember a story on the news about this large yacht owned by a millionaire

After visiting Coit Tower and driving through the Fisherman’s Wharf area we drove over to Golden Gate Park. Since we had already been through most of the museums we just walked around. This is one place we should have gone through but I don’t think my husband is as interested at looking at lots of plants as I am.

This is the Strybing Aboretum, I had last been inside it as a child when visiting with my parents.

After leaving Golden Gate Park we headed over to the coast and to the Cliff House. The Cliff House now belongs to the National Parks System. I was glad to see that the original sign had been saved through all the earthquakes and fires the Cliff House had been through.

Anyway, it was a very nice day trip and it was good to get out of the house.
