I’m pretty generous when it comes to favorite charities but since I’ve retired, I just don’t have as much spare cash for donations. As a couple, we’re doing pretty well but when in the past when I’ve bought things or given to charities, it came out of my own accounts. I don’t make nearly what I did before and I’m very careful to not make those “impulse” purchases. I’m still of the mindset that if I don’t have the cash, I don’t need to spend now and pay later.
A couple of weeks ago on my weekly grocery run there was a veteran from the U.S. Marines outside the store taking donations to help other veterans. It was different this time, he actually had items to purchase with the proceeds going to veterans in need. I have plenty of shirts but what caught my eye were these cute little rubber duckies. They were three for $5.00 and I figured I could spare that.
I bought a little Marine duck, a patriotic duck and my favorite, a pirate duck!
I hope my meager donation helps where needed.
I’ve been taking pictures all year long, especially pictures of the garden. I noticed my wisteria had finally produced some flowers. It hadn’t bloomed since we moved the wisteria out to the garden and draped it over the trellis. I swear, I thought it had little white flowers before but these lovely white and purple flowers showed up.
I’ve been watering the large pot more and the wisteria has been pretty lush and green. I’m glad the flowers have reappeared.
Our two newest members of our critter bunch spend a lot of time in the garden and around the house. They sleep in the barn where the horse hay is stored and have been safe so far. We did have two chickens but shortly after they arrived, one of the hens disappeared overnight leaving a stack of feathers on the driveway.
The rooster looks after the remaining hen, he’s always with her. You can see we are now the proud owners of not one but two ugly chickens!
They are cute in a way though and they always come running when they see me outside.
There now, I’m done with my rambling for the day. I don’t write nearly as much as before but I still enjoy my blogs just to jot down the daily ramblings of my life.
Have a great day!
