I’m not so sure how this happened. I looked out the kitchen window towards the front pasture yesterday and the rooster was not alone! There were two hens clucking and scratching around him.
Now these hens are even uglier than the rooster! Both are sort of bald, that happens when a rooster mounts them and holds them still using their heads.
I phoned my daughter to ask if she knew how they got there. At her grad party on Saturday Gail, Margie and Margie’s other helper Lindsay talked of bringing over a couple of their ugly hens. It looks like Lindsay snuck over here and tossed the girls over the fence. I didn’t hear or see anyone drive up yesterday. She must have parked on the road and tossed the hens from there. Gail knew nothing about it but her first thought was that it must have been Lindsay since she now knew where we lived.
Anyway, Mr. Rooster is quite happy to have the company. I think they all made it through the night. The hens can’t jump or fly up as high as the rooster so I think they spent the night in the feed stall.
I’ll have to go out and look for eggs later. The hens were the last to get up even though the rooster was crowing away early.
