Party Planning

Well I haven’t been around too much lately.  I’ve still visited my favorite blogs but I haven’t kept up on my own here.

Last Tuesday our daughter, Gail, graduated with an RN degree from a local college.  She already has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and I think that will definitely be a compliment to her nursing degree.

Gail has worked hard on her nursing studies leading to her obtaining the degree.  I’m glad it’s over for her.  Hopefully she can land a nursing job quickly but as much as we hear of the nursing shortage, apparently there isn’t a shortage in our area.  She may have to do some commuting to get started.

We took two cameras to the ceremony, hoping to get some decent shots.  I used our Canon Rebel SLR camera and my husband used the Canon Digital Rebel.  It would have helped if there were more lighting in the theater where the ceremony was held but I managed to save some of the digital pictures by editing them.

This is one reason I really miss my Canon Powershot S5 IS, it could get great photos even when the lighting wasn’t just right.  I will definitely buy another!

Anyway, this is from the Canon Digital Rebel, I had to lighten it up so you could actually see the people in the shot!  As it turned out, Gail is easy to find in the crowd, she was exact center in the front row!

Ok, maybe it’s not so easy to see her if you don’t know what she looks like.  But she’s the pretty blonde in the middle of the front row. :)

The outdoor shots came out much better, thank goodness it was still daylight!

This is Gail smiling of course as she holds her new diploma and chats with other graduates.

The next shot is Gail and the graduates again with Gail’s husband in the background.

We’re having a graduation party for Gail this Saturday.  We didn’t want to do it this last weekend because it was a holiday weekend and some would have other plans.

Anyway, I’ve been planning the food and hoping the weather will warm!

We’ll be serving the basic barbecue items like hamburgers, hot dogs and spareribs.  I’ve got a couple of salads planned as well as a bean dip and chips.

I’ll have to see if Gail’s husband Derek can pick up a cake.  After all, the party was his idea, he talked a lot about giving her one but never made any plans so we told him we’d have the party at our place.  I think that’s what he was hoping for anyway.
