I know I’ve been quiet lately, I’m just trying to keep warm! This spring is more like winter but at least it’s not stopping the plants from growing or flowering.
My tulips have been trying for days to open but so far only one has. This is the first flower from the tulips I planted this winter. My son gave me several bulbs for Christmas and as soon as there was a break in the rains I planted them in the garden.
When I created the new garden last summer I also had my husband help me to transplant my Japanese Red Maple. I’d been growing it in a pot for years and it needed to spread it’s roots.
I’ve had this Japanese Maple for years and it’s leaves have always been green. This is the first year the leaves appear red. I think the transplant was good for the little tree and it’s happier now.
A happy plant is a healthy plant. The Japanese Maple is also growing straighter, before it was leaning more to reach the sunshine.
My clematis are also doing well, you can see them growing in the tulip picture. They have been climbing and attaching to anything within their reach. I’ll look forward to the pretty purple flowers when the clematis bloom.
