Yep, the forecasters were right this time and it’s definitely raining out there. The weather folks are often wrong possibly because they are trying to predict what people want to hear. I want to hear true weather predictions.
It’s a pretty good storm with winds and lots of rain. The roads in the mountains all have chain control. Every year people head up to the snow and ski resorts unprepared. They think they won’t need to bring chains for their vehicles and end up paying big time for the equipment just to cross the mountains. Ski people are a different breed anyway, they’ll drive in trecherous conditions just to get on the slopes. It’s not the kind of weather I like to be in.
Yesterday I baked the Christmas cookies and I’m storing them in a large sealed container until the frosting crew arrives. I tell you, that baking wore me out. All the rolling of the dough and cutting out the cookie shapes is really hard on the back.
Once all the cookies were baked I drove up into town and found a couple of nice watches for Gail and Derek. I had a coupon with me for 20% off but because these were Fossil watches they are excluded from the special discounts. I didn’t have the checkbook with me and I didn’t want to charge the purchase so I had the girl hold them for me. I went back into town later and wrote a check for them. We won’t have much on the credit cards this year, we try not to charge if we have the cash.
There’s only one more week until Christmas! I’m ready I think though. Since I’m not cooking the main Christmas meal I only have to worry about fixing the green bean casserole I’ve been asked to bring. I have everything here so I’ll just assemble it Christmas morning and pop it in the oven at my mother-in-laws.
The kids are organizing what day they can be here for their dad’s birthday (December 22) and to decorate the cookies. They’ll probably come over Saturday I think.
I just got the calls that the Tuesday golf game is cancelled. I think my husband is happy about that, he wasn’t looking forward to playing in this weather.
Stay safe and warm out there!
