Last night just before dark, I heard this loud screeching sound. I opened the sliding glass door to look outside. I couldn’t tell where the sound was coming from but it was loud! Just then in ran Spunky with this HUGE bird in her mouth and the bird was still screeching!
I’m not sure what kind of bird it was though. It was large, at least large for Spunky. The bird was about the size of a robin and was gray and brown. I’ve seen them out and about but never took the time to find out what type of bird they are.
So Spunky runs in the house with this screeching bird. Cats always like to show you what they’ve caught. I grabbed for Spunky to toss her and her bird outside again and she drops the bird on the floor.
This bird is still quite alive and quite scared now. It flew up to the bricks above the wood stove then over to my China cabinet on the other side of the room. Luckily wild birds in houses are totally confused and I was able to grab the bird when it was cornered between the wall and the glass of the China cabinet. I released the bird to fly again outside where it belongs.
Poor Spunky, she just wanted to show me what she caught! Spunky ran all over looking for it not realizing I had already let the bird fly away outside.
She probably thought I’d like a new pet…I think not!
