Yesterday we went down to Old Sacramento. It’s where the city of Sacramento began along the waterfront in the early Gold Rush Days. The reason we went was that I had read that Old Sacramento was celebrating it’s Heritage Days and that there would be a special appearance by Margaret Kerry (the model for Tinkerbell) and Kathryn Beaumont (the voice of Wendy and Alice in the Disney films). I told my husband about it and asked if he’d like to go down there with me. I thought we could also do some Christmas shopping while we were out.
Remind me never to go shopping with my husband. The appearance by the Disney people wasn’t to be until 1:00 p.m. and of course we arrived downtown around 11:00 a.m. I had told him 3 or 4 times what the schedule was.
Anyway, we didn’t stay long enough to see the event of the day but we did walk around Old Sacramento and the downtown shopping mall.
The first area we headed to was the riverfront and the Christmas tree.
There’s several trains in Old Sacramento just for those fun day trips.
This is one of the paddle wheel river boats that travels up and down the Sacramento River.
After walking around the Old Town we walked over to the downtown outdoor shopping mall. This mall is not enclosed and all the walk-ways are outside. One of the main places in the mall is the Hard Rock Cafe.
Everything was so pretty with all the holiday decorations in place.
Anyway, I would have liked to have seen the special events of the day. We did browse the Stage Nine store who was sponsoring the Peter Pan event in conjunction with the 55th anniversary of Peter Pan. They had many of the Disney photos from past films. While I’m a fan of anything Disney, I wasn’t that big of a fan to pay $100 – $500 for the Disney artwork.
The trip downtown was a nice change of pace. We still have shopping to get done, we didn’t buy a thing yesterday.

Some lovely sights there, interesting looking buildings and I love the paddle boat. Rule of thumb, always shop on your own, expecially if there’s anything special you want to look at or see, if you take someone with you you inveriably end up missing out.

Well I thought he’d enjoy the Disney people and the presentation but we were two hours early for anything! As for shopping, I generally go by myself. I need these few times to keep reminding me it’s not a good idea to have the husband come along.

Yeah it was a good day raindrops. As for Trouble, I managed to keep her out of my way while I turned the water off. The water lines are fixed now, my husband worked on them yesterday.
