Well it wasn’t so bad. When the sun did begin to rise, at least give me a little light, I went outside to see exactly how big this water fountain in the pasture was.
Looking from the fence nearest the house I could see it was as bad as I thought.
I had to climb through the pasture gate to go inside to get a better view. I think the water was spraying 30 to 40 feet in the air!
That’s our small pond down there and you can see the red glow of the sunrise through the trees on the top left of the pictures.
My husband had recently installed a new valve down by the pond for connecting hoses to water the pasture. The pipe holding the valve had come unscrewed. I thought maybe the glue didn’t hold but that wasn’t the case this time. I mention glue because our irrigation pipes are all heavy plastic and you use this special glue to connect on to the other. This time the pipe he attached was a metal pipe that screwed into a plastic fitting.
I then went into the upper pasture and turned the main water valve off or so I thought. It did drop the pressure but the water at the break just kept spraying only not as high. I waited a respectable amount of time and then went upstairs around 8:30 a.m. and stood beside the bed. I asked my husband if he was awake yet.
My husband got right up and went down to the lower pasture where he has another shut-off valve and turned that off. The pipe’s not fully fixed yet but the water is shut down to the lower pasture. I didn’t know about the other shut off valve but I probably couldn’t have turned it off anyway after watching him scoop out lots of goop and mud that had been in the hole the valve was in.
Oh and I found I can still hook things up right. :) The other day my husband went into town and came back with a small bag. I asked what he bought. He said he went to Radio Shack to see if he could get a connector for his T.V. and DVD player. They worked OK before but after hooking up the new antenna wire the DVD player wouldn’t work with the remote.
I pulled out the shelf the DVD player was on and lo and behold there was a connector right there. The antenna cable just needed to be connected there not directly to the TV and a cable from the little connector then connects to the TV.
My husband is happier now and can also watch movies in our room again. I’m just happy that I’ve still got it!
