You can tell winter is not far away. It stays dark in the morning until past seven! I’m a morning person and I don ‘t like it still being dark when I’m up. It seems like it’s still the middle of the night. If I’m up, the sun should be too! That’s fair isn’t it?
We told the kids about our travel plans and it’s working out that they’ll be available to feed Moe and the cats while we’re gone. That’s the most difficult part about taking trips is making sure someone will be able to feed the animals. Brian says he’ll just stay at home next week, as it turns out his girlfriend is going to be in Hawaii with her grandmother and Gail lives just up the road so she and her husband will also check in on the critters.
My husband will alert his brother that we’ll be gone so his brother can check in on their folks more often. I was leary about going anywhere because of my husband’s parents. We’re close enough that we can come down to their house right away if anything goes wrong. My husband’s brother lives an hour and a half away which isn’t all that far either.
So the critters will be taken care of and so will the in-laws. :) We can jet off to Washington D.C. and take in the sights.
It’s going to be a short trip really. We’ve got five days planned but two of those will be flying days. We’ll get as much in during the three complete days as we can.
After we return I’ll look more deeply into some travel for myself. My husband plays golf a lot, I like to travel. I’ll see what I can find that I’ll be comfortable with travelling alone. I’ve taken several trips in the past by myself but as time goes by I’m finding I’m less confident to be out on the road by myself. Right now I’ve narrowed it down to Hawaii and Reno. I’d like to go to southern California to Disneyland again but the probably won’t happen. Of course there’s all the relatives back east that want me to visit again. They too are getting older and I probably won’t have them around that long. Decisions, decisions.
Today I can handle! I think I’ll run out and pick up some of those travel sized things like shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste. In the past I’d just bring the full sized bottles in a plastic bag but the airlines won’t allow anything over an ounce or two. I’ll get the little bottles. My husband said that I don’t need to, the hotels have shampoo. Well it’s not the brands I like to use!
Later today I’m meeting some of the girls from my high school class for dinner. We’re going to try to decide on places to travel too. However, when you have five women trying to come to a common decision on something it’s next to impossible. We’ll see. Some wanted to take a cruise, some wanted to go to the Mexican Riveria, one even suggested a mud bath and spa treatment in Napa. I’m not at all interested in the mud bath thing. Just think of how many people have been in that mud? Is it possible to clean dirt? I don’t think so! Anyway, dinner with the girls will be fun and we might even decide on a place to go together.
Enjoy the day!
